Eligibility

The Freddie Awards are open to all travel loyalty programs worldwide that operate loyalty schemes generally associated with an airline, hotel or credit card and in which the loyalty program currency is commonly known as miles / points / credit in a frequent flyer program and as points in hotel guest programs. Credit card programs should have at least one earn or redemption relationship with either an airline frequent flyer or hotel guest program. Programs that have won awards in past Freddie Awards voting are always eligible for the current balloting year. There is no limit to the number of Freddie Awards a program may win—that decision lies with the members of such programs who vote for those programs that have created the best value for their members.

Judging Process

Establishing Winners, Nominees and Official Honorees

Freddie Award Nominees are entered through the Call for Entries in which travel loyalty programs worldwide are contacted to establish their listing as well as their nomination for entry in the Best Promotion category. In addition, the editorial staff of InsideFlyer magazine and Freddie Award Committee participate in submitting entries for Best Promotion when deemed appropriate. Freddie Award winners are selected by members of travel loyalty programs from around the world in a call for voting between February 15 and March 31 annually. Freddie Award Special Honorees are selected by the Freddie Award Committee who meet to discuss the efforts of travel loyalty programs during the Freddie Award year to identify and honor those who made a singular impact on the industry.

Voting

The rigorous process to win a coveted Freddie Award is entirely based on the voice of the road warrior / frequent flyer who casts a ballot and personally decides which programs they feel provided the best value and services during the prior year. All ballots undergo a robust technical audit to determine their validity.

Disclosure

With all the connection and interconnection online, and because we not only acknowledge excellence, but we associate with it, the potential for conflicts of interest may arise. We take these conflicts very seriously. We do everything in our power to eliminate any occurrence of conflict while ensuring that the best programs are recognized. The Freddie Awards Committee and staff do not select the winners or influence the balloting in any way. The nominees are determined by the industry to be listed on the ballot and the winners are entirely in the hands of members of travel loyalty programs worldwide who vote through an independent process.
