When Southwest launched the all-new Rapid Rewards on March 1, 2011, the Rapid Rewards Credit Card changed as well with members earning points instead of credits for purchases. The earlier version of the credit card never received much attention in the Freddie Awards but the new program and features have catapulted the Rapid Rewards Credit Card into the Freddie limelight.
Members like the new point-earning card that gives them an anniversary bonus of up to 6,000 points and the ability to earn up to 15,000 Tier Qualifying Points per year in addition to earning points for purchases. Plus, only credit cardholders can redeem points for More Rewards, which include flights on other airlines, hotels and car rentals.
