Marriott Honored Guest Awards Is the 1990 Program of the Year

The top hotel award for 1990 goes to Marriott's Honored Guest Awards.

This is the award for the best overall combination of excellence, service and benefits — and one thing we noticed is that voters did not vote along party lines. Some ballots named five different programs across the eight categories.

Marriott still won the big one. The blend is hard for other guest programs to compete with: yearly promotions that make travelers flock to Marriott hotels, award variety, and customer service members trust.

The 1990 award schedule changes caused a minor sensation. Veteran members have taken them in stride, and the program continues to grow.

Hyatt Gold Passport came very close in at least two categories. That is the shape of the next few ballots.
