OnePass Is the 1989 Program of the Year
Program of the Year — Airlines, Americas · Continental OnePass
Best Frequent Traveler Program among the airlines for 1989: Continental OnePass.
It was not close, which is remarkable given that OnePass is roughly half the size of the largest programs. Popularity awards usually reward scale. This one did not.
Delta finished second — and every single Delta ballot mentioned the 1,000-mile minimum. When a program feature shows up on every vote, that is a program feature worth keeping.
OnePass spent the last eight months of 1989 building a genuinely strong combination of service benefits and award choices. Texas Air draws its share of criticism, and the Eastern situation disrupted award travel for many travelers, but the effort aimed at the members who fly most was not overlooked.
