Aeroplan is the 2025 Airline Program of the Year in the Americas.

Again.

The “again” matters.

Aeroplan had already won Program of the Year in 2023, three years after Air Canada introduced the completely rebuilt version of the program.

Then the Freddies took 2024 off.

When voting returned?

So did Aeroplan.

The program itself goes back considerably farther. Aeroplan was introduced in 1984, which meant 2024 marked its 40th anniversary—a milestone Air Canada understandably decided was worth celebrating. In 2025 that celebration would earn another Freddie too.

But the more interesting story is what happened after the rebuild.

Frequent travelers aren’t always generous toward loyalty-program redesigns.

We’ve developed trust issues.

Aeroplan changed the program substantially and somehow managed to emerge with members liking it more.

Program of the Year in 2023.

Program of the Year in 2025.

And this time, Best Elite Program and Best Promotion came along for the ride.

Three trophies.

Air Canada’s press release called it three wins.

Frequent flyers call it needing a bigger carry-on.
